An extremely well-made and designed enamel snake brooch. The brooch features Basse Taille enamel of yellow and brown colors alternating the length of the snake. Basse Taille enamel means that engraving or hammering is applied to the metal and then the enamel is applied after, this is a similar style to Guilloche enamel but the pattern is usually applied using a machine to give a repetitive pattern under the enamel. This gives the piece a great look of texture underneath the transparent or translucent enamel. The brooch is completed with round synthetic pink sapphire eyes and measures appx 1 3|4 inches long and 1 1|8 inches wide.
