The Retro era of jewelry saw a more free-flowing organic, less symmetrical feel. Gold jewelry and consequently yellow jewelry become very popular. Like almost every era of jewelry, Retro reflected the times. Some of the jewelry started to resemble tank treads for example. Buckles became back in style, and colored gemstones such as aquamarine began to be introduced.  Due to the war, larger gemstones of slightly lesser quality were commonly used to add color to keep the prices down.
